There are some wonderful places to visit during your stay at Olive Tree House. Some are nearer than others but all are worth a day out. Below we have shortlisted some of our favourites.

Kalamata City Centre - 25 min drive.

Kalamata boasts a buzzing atmosphere with something to suit everyone. The main high street "Aristomenous" and its side streets are full of fashion and jewellery boutiques for a great shopping trip. Towards the north of the town lay the oldest parts of the city, Kalamata castle is open for exploring along with many old churches. There are hundreds of cafes and bars to rehydrate you as you enjoy a day out in the friendly city.

Kardamyli - 40 min drive.

Around the Kitries peninsular you will find Kardamyli a small fishing town which is a great day out for all the party. The highstreet is lined with cafes and lots of interesting gift shops which offer quality handmade jewellery and other items. The main beach (pebbly) can be accessed as you enter the town, there is also an area to swim in the center just down from the "Harilaos" restaurant near to the marina.

Polylimnio Waterfalls - Haravgi Village- 1 hr drive.

In the depths of a small gorge outside the village of Haravgi, the waterfalls are a must. Parking is available at the top of the hill, (the walk takes about 15-20 mins so bring bottled water if it is hot) a path is signposted to the main pool and waterfall where you can swim. Depending on the time of year large brightly coloured butterflies and dragonflies can be seen.

Diros Caves - allow 2 hrs drive.

Just south of Kardamyli is Areopoli, here you will find Diros Caves. The caves are a natural phenomenon under land where you can take a guided tour in manned boats. The sights are amazing of up-lit stalactites and stalagmites and the tour lasts a good half an hour. Lifejackets are provided so this is a safe trip out even for young children.
